Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy

This select opportunity is a two-course sequence that helps students develop advanced leadership, project management, and professional communication skills and then apply them to a semester-long strategic management consulting project.

Commercializing New Technologies Academy

This two-course series equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills to commercialize new technologies. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world applications, students develop leadership, business strategies, and the tools to bring innovations to market and pitch to investors.

Sigma Nu Tau

Sigma Nu Tau is an entrepreneurial honors society for individuals who value entrepreneurship, leadership, and academics. The primary focus is to teach members how to use entrepreneurship to excel in the workplace.

Women in Entrepreneurship

The Women in Entrepreneurship group builds a community amongst women, including students and professionals, and provides a platform to share advice and resources, and to gain access to new networks.

Startup Incubator

Open to individuals and teams, the Startup Incubator connects potential entrepreneurs from across campus with the experts and resources they need to launch their idea and grow it into a sustainable venture. We've tailored two tracks to meet the needs of undergraduate students and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and staff. 

Study Abroad

Studying abroad provides an opportunity to develop a global mindset, enhance cultural awareness, and cultivate adaptability—essential skills for thriving in today’s interconnected business landscape. With around 200 programs spanning 49 countries, the University of Iowa offers a wealth of exciting global opportunities to discover.

Volunteer and Service Learning

Engaging in service learning allows you to apply classroom knowledge to real-world community challenges, fostering civic responsibility and leadership skills. Through meaningful projects with local or global organizations, you’ll develop empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while making a tangible impact.

Events and competitions

IdeaStorm

IdeaStorm is an entry level pitch competition across the University of Iowa’s campus that encourages students to share their innovative ideas, all while familiarizing themselves with the pitching process. This event helps students share their new, never heard before ideas without the requirements of a business plan or proposal. 

Startup Games

Dive into the entrepreneurial culture with your classmates at Startup Games. This is a two-day event where students, from all areas of study, pitch their ideas to have an impact. After you pitch, you will form teams and work together to bring the best ideas to life.
